American Idol Vote Via Facebook

Viewers of American Idol can now save their favorite candidate via the Internet, more specifically, via Facebook. No more expensive texting and calls. To do this, Fox has spent an agreement with Facebook to allow viewers to log on and vote for their favorite contestant via their Facebook account when they go on the website of the show.

According to reports, every fan can vote up to 50 times during the voting period. And if they think they would like to vote some more after that, they can vote via text messaging and toll-free phone calls as well.

After years of trying to adopt this system of free voting, this victory can be seen as a mini-revolution. "For years we wanted to launch the principle of online votes. Today, Facebook has given us an effective and safe medium, so we're ready!" said Simon Fuller, creator and producer of American Idol to date.

As of the moment, only registered members on the Facebook network of U.S. and Puerto Rico can vote online, but we can be sure that Internet voting would soon spread to other countries and be adopted by other reality programs.
